Set off on a mountain trail in the Pearl of Africa to meet one of our closest relatives, the Mountain Gorillas. Explore the magnificent national parks, lakes teeming with fish, birds, Hippos and crocodiles while Elephant and Buffalo feed on the banks. Day 1, Night 1

Entebbe/Kampala, Uganda

On the arrival at Entebbe International Airport you will be met by our representative who will transfer you to the hotel.

Day 2, Night 2

Kampala to Murchison National Park

Early breakfast before embarking on our trip through the now infamous Luwero triangle and the site of some of the worst atrocities in Uganda’s recent past, a past now but a distant memory. We stop off to break the journey and a well prepared lunch before continuing to Murchison National Park to exploring the park and stoppingat the top of the falls with its fantastic sight.

Here the Nile, the longest river in the world, is forced through a narrow 7 meter wide gap in the rock, before a tumultuous plunge down the 43 meter abyss. Stopping at the river’s edge we embark on a ferry to across the river to your excellent accommodation on the banks of this one of the mightiest rivers on the planet and certainly one of the most historical.

Day 3, Night 3

Murchison National Park 
After breakfast we will board the game drive vehicle with your guide for an amazing morninggame drive in this the largest of the Ugandan National Parks. We return to the lodge for a break before a well-earned lunch and a midafternoon rest. In the afternoon we embarking on the Boat for a cruise up stream on the Nile river to the bottom of the Murchison waterfalls to view the mass of water from the mighty Nile River as it is compacted through a narrow 7 meter gorge to form the most powerful waterfall in the world and the wildlife that packs the banks in this spectacular area. This is an opportunity to see the amazing hippos, crocodiles and water birds along the river banks.

The bird life is truly amazing with brightly colored kingfishers and bee-eaters darting along the riverbanks. If lucky, you may see the rare and prehistoric looking shoebill, a much sought after species. The boat takes you to the base of the falls which only adds to their impact on the senses as the waters of the Nile rushes, in a thunderous roar to meet you.

Day 4, Night 4

Murchison National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast we leave Murchison Falls National Park, driving in a Southwesterly direction via the Albertine Escarpment of the great Western Rift Valley. 

We continue through Hoima and reach the colorful and beautiful town of Fort Portal, the capital of the Toro kingdom, One of four traditional kingdoms in Uganda and situated in the shadow of the fabled “Mountains of the Moon,” the Rwenzori. After lunch at Fort Portal we continue our journey through spectacular country side to the Queen Elizabeth National park one of the richest natural systems in the world and the African park that boasted the greatest number of bird species on its list.

We arrive in time to check into our accommodation on a full board basis. This park was proclaimed in 1954, named after Queen Elizabeth of England after her visit to the country. 

The park is 1 978 km2 in extent and stretches from the crater-dotted foothills of the Rwenzori mountains, along the shores of Lake Edward to the remote Ishasha river, including a wide variety of habitat from Savanna and Wetland to Tropical forest, a diversity reflected in a bird list of 605 species. 

We arrive in time to check in and a delicious dinner before a restful night’s sleep in our comfortable accommodation.

Day 5, Night 5

Queen Elizabeth National Park

This morning we will leave for the chimpanzee trekking in the Kyambura gorge and an extension of the Maramagambo forest (mean unable to talk) Expect to see variety of primates, especially Chimpanzees of different species, Black and white Colobus monkeys and a wide variety of different animals, Antelopes, Hyena, Lion and many others in Grassland savanna habitat. The gorge is a home to many forest species birds.

Returning for a well prepared lunch and a chance to relax before taking an afternoon boat trip along the Kazinga channel, a wide 32 km long natural channel that flows between Lakes Edward and George, forming one of the dominant features of the Queen Elizabeth national parks and is home to one of the largest populations of Hippopotamus in the world. The shores of the channel are also home to an array of birds including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, Saddle billed stork and many others.

After this wonderful afternoon, we take a slow drive back to our accommodation, dinner and a restful night’s sleep. Accommodation on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.

Day 6, Night 6

Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi National Park

After breakfast transfer from Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. We will drive through the Ishasha sector in the southern sector of the park and home to the well-known tree climbing lions in wooded savannas, characterised by flat topped Acacias and Wild Fig trees Here we will stop to take lunch on the banks of the Ishasha River and try to find the famed Ishasha tree-climbing lions before continuing on to Bwindi, home to the few remaining mountain gorillas. Bird life and primate life in Bwindi is quite superb, and there is an incredible variety of flora. Bwindi is the Bird watchers haven! It holds 348 species of birds and supports 24 of 26 Albertine Rift Endemics that occur in Uganda and seven red data book species. We check into our accommodation have dinner and retire for a peaceful nights rest.

Day 7, Night 

Bwindi National Park

After an early breakfast we meet our guides for a briefing of what we need to do while out tracking these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Soon afterwards we set off for Gorilla trekking through these dense tropical rain forests in the Bwindi (Impenetrable) forest. This is one of the most unique activities you can ever encounter and will change your outlook on life forever. Different family groups of these extremely threatened and endangered Great primates have been careful habituated to man’s presences for the purpose of eco-tourism.

No more than 8 persons are permitted to be in the apes presences at a time in an effort to reduce our impact on these magnificent creatures. You will have the honor to enjoy your limited time photographing and observing these Gorillas in their homes in these thick evergreen forests. After trekking up the mountains, meeting these gentle creatures and returning back down again we arrive back at our accommodation in time to relax before dinner and a well-earned and peaceful night’s sleep in our comfortable accommodation.

Day 8, Night 8

Bwindi National Park

After breakfast, we will make our scenic journey through the beautiful terrain of the rolling hills with terraced landscape. An area referred as the “Switzerland of Africa“. We continue to Lake Bunyonyi. This large and erratically shaped lake lies at an altitude of approximately 2000 m, where it follows the contours of the hilly terrain that separates the towns of Kabale and Kisoro. It is a very scenic spot, dotted with small islands and ringed by steeped terraced hills. Bunyonyi means “place of little birds” and it is particularly good for water birds. In the afternoon, you will go for a boat ride inside Lake Bunyonyi to which will take you to various islands inside the lake for bird viewing, sightseeing and discovering the sites of the Bakiga culture.

National Park to Kampala

After breakfast, we will depart for Kampala arriving in the late afternoon. Lunch en route in Mbarara. A stopover is made at the Equator for photography.
