Experience 700 free roaming African Elephants in the diverse and expanding malaria free Addo park. Search the plains and sub-tropical thicket for Lion, Rhino, Buffalo, Zebra, Eland, Red Hartebeest as well as a wealth of birds and reptiles.

Start the morning on the protected waters of Port Elizabeth’s Algoa Bay searching for seasonal Humpback and Southern Right Whales, Dolphins, Seals and Sharks. Circumnavigate St Croix Island for close up views of the largest breeding colony of African Penguin in the world before departing to the Addo Elephant National Park scanning the thickets for the more traditional members of the BIG 5 and other animals, birds and reptiles.

We take a drive along the Port Elizabeth beach front, making our way to the southern entrance of the bay at Cape Recife or the ‘Cape of Rocks’ as named by the early explorers. Here we visit the penguin rehab. centre and the Lighthouse before continuing around the rugged and picturesque coastline with spectacular views over the Indian Ocean stopping to view some of the endless golden beaches, fringed in places by colossal sand dunes.

Great White Shark viewing and cage diving has arrived in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape!! We are now able to offer a one of a kind, exciting marine safari to Bird Island on the north eastern coast of Algoa Bay as a full day excursion to this amazingly wild place. The day includes seasonal whale watching en route, Dolphins along the coastline as well as time spent with the endangered African penguins that breed on St Croix Island.

Spend a day exploring this rough terrain in the northern Addo Elephant National Park; keep an eye out for Eland, Red Hartebeest, Zebra, Klipspringer and Warthog amongst the many other species of animals and birds. Stop for a well-prepared picnic lunch and at scenic viewpoints between slopes through which we need to negotiate the 4 x 4 vehicle. Learn the fascinating history of a running battle between the British and Boers through these rugged valleys and mountain peaks.

Exciting and informative game drive through the malaria free Addo Elephant National Park, home to close to 700 free roaming Elephants, Lions, Buffalo, Zebra, Eland and Antelope. Before the shadows merged into dusk we slowly cruise on the Sundays River watching for birds and game along the way.

Wild flower reserve, wooded valleys and arch bridges combine to start a journey through this picturesque western part of the Eastern Cape. Characterized by the uninhabited, endless golden beaches of the Indian Ocean and bordered by the mountains in the north there are Nature Reserves and the Baviaanskloof, a World Heritage Site, well laid out, productive farmlands and citrus orchards. Discover the largest sundial in Africa and the last resting place of the Khoikhoi woman Sarah Baartman.

This is a winter tour as it is only at this time of the year, June through to August, that the wide spread and spectacular display of wild Aloes takes place. A time of the year when most plants are hibernating, either having lost their leaves and flowers to await the new spring in their dull winter overcoats or await shrouded in a coat of autumn browns and oranges for the new sap to produce the abundant new growth of spring.

The residence open their gardens both in town and on the farms to visitors in an annual garden festival highlighting the wonderfully tended gardens bursting with flowers of all colours shapes and sizes. A must for garden enthusiasts but also for all those who appreciate the beauty of nature in this quaint village.
