Tripadvisor review 15 March 2019

What an amazing day!

We initially contacted Alan’s tours by email and received prompt and informative replies.

The pick up at the port was organised to coincide with the time of our cruise ship’s arrival and Alan himself was our guide for the day.

What a knowledgeable and affable man, he really could not do enough for us.

As we made our way to the Addo Elephant Park we had a mini guided tour with background information about the area around Port Elizabeth. On arrival at the park we passed through an area of scrub where the first ‘wild life encounter’ was a dung beetle spotted by the eagle eyed Alan. I was worried!! Needlessly, Alan then proceeded to wend his way through the park visiting various water holes we saw an amazing variety of wild life, made possible by Alan’s encyclopaedic knowledge of the habitat and habits of the park residents.

We had a delicious lunch and then had some chill out time by water holes watching and waiting patiently to see who wandered by.

Alan was most insistent that we wait for ‘The Golden Hour’ just before the park closes at 6.00pm. The light was just perfect for photography, and there we were, just in the right spot to see three adolescent lion cubs try their luck with four grumpy old Cape Buffalo to be King of the water hole.

It was truly uplifting to watch their antics until a lioness turned up to shoo them away to safety. The icing on the cake was a huge bull elephant chomping on the vegetation by the roadside blocking our exit to the park I happily have stayed longer.

Go for it a truly magical day.

Thanks Alan.
