Day 1, Night 1
Port Elizabeth or East London to Wild Coast
Meet and greet by Alan Tours at 8:30 am at your place of residence before our departure for to Wild Coast. Travelling through picturesque countryside towards the coast we enter the old Transkei, characterised by rural communities, living in round, colorfully painted traditional homes, constructed of mud with conical thatched roofs that are fast disappearing.
We stop for lunch at the Kei River before continuing for the Mbashe River, on whose banks, at Qunu and Mveso our elder statesman, Nelson “Rolihlahla” Mandela, was born and raised.
The road gets rougher as the scenery becomes more attractive as we wind our way to our hotel where we check in, in time to enjoy our well-earned dinner.

Day 2, Night 2
Wild Coast and Nature Reserve
Wake up for tea and coffee, after which we set off on a walk on the deserted beach towards the local river mouth before breakfast. Return through the coastal forests for a well-deserved breakfast.
After breakfast, we set off to explore either the scenic wonderland of this rural environment and beautiful coastline by vehicle or we take a packed lunch and head for the Dwesa game reserve, crossing the Mbashe river by canoe for the remote beauty of this nature reserve.
We set out to explore deserted beaches, the promise of spotting the southernmost crocodiles in Africa, Rhino, Buffalo, Zebra and many species of antelope that inhabit the grass plains above the shore.
We discover unusual rock formations, bleached whalebones and ancient Khoikhoi middens overlooking a rusted wreck lying under the blue Indian Ocean.

Day 3, Night 3
The Wild Coast and Nature reserve
Wake up at your leisure before breakfast. After breakfast, we drive into the reserve for a walk through tall canopy forests to a scared waterfall. Lunch at the hotel and rest of day at leisure relaxing around the swimming pool, walking through shaded forests

Day 4, Night 4
Wild Coast to Amatole Mountain retreat
Early breakfast before checking out and departing via the heartland of Nelsons Mandela’s birth, we visit the modern museum and area where this iconic leader was first schooled and grew-up while making our way to a mountain retreat in the heart of the mystical Amatola Mountains. We check into our accommodation overlooking deep valleys and indigenous forests, an area of myth and legend, deep, forests, tinkling streams and gossamer waterfalls.

Day 5, Night 5
Amatole Mountain Retreat
Leisurely wake up for breakfast after which we have opportunities to go shopping at quaint Hippy colonies, offering displays of well-crafted pottery, modelled clay figurines and other art. Eco-shrine and Labyrinth to nurture your esoterically well-being. Take a walk through forests with ancient yellowwood trees in remote valleys where tannin stained streams tumble like gossamer over granite boulders or simply relax around the warmth of your own log fire at your individual mountain chalet.

Day 6, Night 6
Mountain Retreat to Karoo Game Reserve
After breakfast, we depart for the Great Karoo, passing through historic and architecturally interesting Karoo towns for lunch en-route for a well-established Karoo Game reserve set on the edge of the vast plains, amongst rugged mountains and gentle plateaus.

Day 7, Night 7
Karoo Game Reserve
Wake up for tea, coffee and rusks before departing on an early morning game drive. Searching the game filled plains for the apex predator, the Cheetah while we enjoy the fresh morning air in this undisturbed environment. Return for breakfast in the restaurant.
Midday is a time to relax on your own. In the afternoon we again depart for a game drive, viewing a wide variety of African plains and other game on this vast landscape, including herds of Springbok, Black Wildebeest, Blesbok, Red Hartebeest, Gemsbok, Eland, Ostrich, Ground squirrels, Meerkats, Cape Buffalo, Black Rhino, Brown Hyaena and Cheetah, including a wide variety bird life that make these plains and valleys their home.

Day 8, Night 8
Karoo Game reserve to the Baviaanskloof
Early wake up for the last game drive in these magnificent settings, before breakfast and our departure for the Baviaanskloof wilderness area and world heritage site.
Continuing through the Little Karoo to Willowmore, where we stop for a well-deserved lunch break before entering this scenic wonderland. We drive slowly through this ancient wonderland and reach our destination in the late afternoon, a series of beautifully constructed chalets hidden in natural rock on top of a ridge with a stunning view into the valley’s and crevices below.
We meet for a gourmet dinner in the restaurant with similarly stupendous views or an unusual experience in a huge cave before retiring for a good night’s rest.

Day 9, Night 9
Baviaanskloof to Port Elizabeth
An early morning wake up for coffee and tea before we set off on a game drive through this fascinating wilderness area.
We view the rich bird life learn about the many medicinal plants from your local field guide where streams tinkle and laugh through strewn boulders as we head back for the lodge to check out and depart through the rest of the valley.
We continue into the Baviaanskloof, descend into the mighty valley of the baboons through the twisting and turning pass that brings us to the top of the pass, criss-crossing rivers, narrow winding roads ascending and descending valley’s and peaks until we exit on the eastern side where we pass through extensive citrus orchards, scented sweetly in spring with the millions of white blooms. We continue to the picturesque farming town of Patensie where we stop, if time allows, at a farm stall with a wide selection of preserves and traditional foods before departing for Port Elizabeth along the southern coastline and our guesthouse accommodation on the beachfront.

Day 10, Night 10
Port Elizabeth Marine Tour and Addo Elephant National Park
After an 7:30 am pick up we start the morning on the protected waters of Port Elizabeth’s Algoa Bay searching for Dolphins, Seals, Sharks and the seasonal Humpback and Southern Right Whales.
We circumnavigate St Croix Island for close up view of the largest breeding colony of African Penguin in the world.
Algoa Bay is known as the “Bottlenose Dolphin Capital of the World” as these magnificent, playful mammals occur commonly and are found in large numbers where schools can be made up of 300 individuals or more.
We return to the harbour or the nearby restaurant for a satisfying light lunch.
After lunch, we board the tour vehicle and depart for the Addo Elephant National Park for exciting game drives, scanning the thickets for the more traditional members of the BIG 5.
The reserve is famous for its population of over 700 African Elephants, herds of Buffalo, Lions and Leopard amongst the many species of antelope, Zebra and Warthog as well as the rich and diverse bird and reptile life that inhabit this expanded National Park, one of the most popular in South Africa.
After entering, we check in and immediately start our game viewing experience searching for the many and diverse creatures in the thickets and on the open plains while learning about the habitat in which they live.
Arriving at the main camp, we check into our accommodation. After relaxing we again prepare for an exciting game drive before dinner at the restaurant and a well-deserved rest accompanied by the sounds of the African night.

Day 11, Night 11
Addo Elephant National Park
Early morning wake up for coffee, tea and rusks and depart for a game drive, viewing a wide variety of African big game in these vast thickets and plains.
This is the best time to catch the predators wandering the thickets before they lie up for the day. The awesome Lion live side by side with Warthog, Zebra, Kudu, Eland and Red Hartebeest in this 48 thousand hectare section of the National Park. We return for brunch at the restaurant, spend some time at the nearby waterhole or simply relax at your Chalet before we again prepare for an exciting afternoon game drive in the Alan Tours 4 x 4 Landcruiser searching for Elephants, Eland, Buffalo and the stately Kudu, the males with their huge horns blending into the background.
Having enjoyed an exciting afternoon, a tasty dinner and the magnificent night sky, we make our way to our comfortable beds for a peaceful night’s rest.

Day 12
Addo Elephant National Park to Port Elizabeth
Early wake up for those who choose to join Alan Tours on the last game drive. Return for breakfast at the restaurant before checking out and the return trip to Port Elizabeth through the Park, game viewing all along the way. Drop off at your place of residence in Port Elizabeth marks the end of the tour.
