Day 1

Port Elizabeth to Plettenberg Bay

8:00 am pick up from your place of residence in Port Elizabeth and depart along the Port Elizabeth’s Wild Side on our way to the renowned Garden Route.

Our first stop is at a wildflower reserve for a cup of fresh coffee or tea and a view of the spectacular bridge over this river gorge.

We continue to Storms River to stretch our legs where from the top of the bridge we view the deep gorge over which the arch bridge was built.

Continuing along the Garden Route we descend to the spectacular scenery of the Tsitsikamma National Park at sea level with stunning views over the Indian Ocean.

We take a walk to the mouth of the river over suspension bridges that span these amber coloured waters before a light lunch at the park restaurant overlooking the bay.

Here, dramatic cliff faces meet the power of the swell coming in from the southern Ocean as they burst in great sprays of white foam in protest at the interruption of their unconfined freedom.

Leaving the coast, we continue to Bloukrans river gorge with its massive arch bridge and one of the world highest Bungee jumps at an astonishing 216 m above the river bed below.

We continue through the heart of the Garden Route.

Here hazy mountains lie carpeted in lush forests bordered by colourful fynbos, the diverse indigenous flora of the region.

We approach our overnight accommodation, a guest house situated a short boardwalk away from the beach on the outskirts of the holiday town of Plettenberg Bay with its spectacular views over Baia Formosa or “Beautiful Bay” it was called by the early Portuguese explorers.

Day 2

Plettenberg Bay to Swellendam

After delicious breakfast, we check out and depart for Knysna. This is a popular and picturesque route as we drive through forests both manmade and natural. The coast a short drive to the south and the tall Outeniqua mountains omni present to the north. We arrive in Knysna and drive to the spectacular view points on the eastern head, overlooking the expansive lagoon. This is one of two massive sandstone sentinels guarding the entrance to these peaceful inland waters.

Leaving Knysna, we continue to Mossel Bay, the site of the first European landfall in South Africa on their successful quest to circumnavigate the African continent. Here we have lunch and visit the oldest post office, a tree, in Africa and the site of the first landing of Bartholomew Dias in 1488.

We continue on the Garden Route, through stunning scenery to the picturesque town of Swellendam, here we check into our tastefully appointed accommodation and relax over a well-prepared evening meal.

Day 3

Swellendam to Cape Town

After breakfast, we check out of the guesthouse and spend some time viewing places of interest in this, the third oldest town in South Africa, before travelling inland through the historic and picturesque Cape Winelands.

We stop for lunch at one of the local restaurants or wine farms before finally descending the great mountain ranges that separate Cape Town from the interior as we approach our mother city, Cape Town, nestled in the warm embrace of Table Mountain. Here we check into our accommodation and freshen up before heading into Cape Town to sample the fare at one of the many world class restaurants that can be found in this cosmopolitan City.

We explore the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront or you party the night away at some of the venues of the vibrant nightlife which the City is so well known for.
