Day 1, Night 1
Port Elizabeth to Addo Elephant National Park to Wilderness Camp
7:30 am pick up at place of residence in Port Elizabeth and depart for the nearby malaria free Addo Elephant National Park.
On arrival we stop for a comfort break, check into the Park and start our Game viewing experience, searching the thickets and plains for the many interesting Animals, Reptiles, Birds and Plants to be found in this amazingly diverse National Park, the third largest in the country and the second most popular to the Kruger National Park.
The Park is home to the Big 5 Mammals, Lion, Leopard, Black Rhino and Cape Buffalo and of course close to 700 free roaming African Elephant that can be found here.
We make our way north through the park and stop at around midday for a light lunch at the park restaurant.
After a lunch break, we leave the Addo Elephant National Park and continue our journey, making our way to a wilderness hide away deep in a ravine in one of the nearby Fold Mountains that dominate this area.
After an easy hour’s drive, we turn off onto the road, less travelled, entering the realm of remote farms, framed by rugged Mountains. A short distance further on we stop to open the first of a number of farm gates as we travel through the foothills into the Mountains.
On arrival, we check in at the farm house before continuing a short distance to the car park. Here, at the end of the track we unpack and with some help from the staff, we carry our luggage for a walk of a few hundred metres along the river bed, under ever imposing cliffs, through thick riverine vegetation. The walk ensures that the tranquillity of this Wilderness Camp is left undisturbed by the sounds of other people and the modern world.
Arriving at the Camp, hardly visible under the canopy of gnarled riverine trees on the banks of the Klein Rivier (Little River), we unpack into our comfortable tents which are set on raised wooden platforms above the rocky terrain of the stream bed.
After settling in and enjoying a well-deserved cup of coffee, we head out, if time allows, on the trail beside the river, slowly making our way through the deep canopy of river trees as we make our way up stream along the waterway, stopping frequently, to take in the many sights and sounds of the smaller creatures and myriad of Birds, that call this remote wilderness, their home.
Returning to camp in time to make the evening fire, around which we will enjoy refreshments with your companions, we prepare the evening meal, a traditional Braai ( barbecue) to the sounds of the local troop of Baboons as they compete for the best sleeping space on the cliffs or trees. The looming cliff face is home to hundreds of Rock Hyrax or Dassies as they are locally known. One might be lucky to see them scurrying across the rocks and hear their chattering, like alarm calls, warning each other of impending danger.
We take our simple meal prepared on the coals of the open fire on the wide deck listening to the night enclosing the camp, deep within the ravine.

Day 2, Night 2
Wilderness Camp
Early wake up for a refreshing cup of coffee or tea and a wholesome breakfast before setting out for a leisurely walk up the river trail to an amber coloured rock pool where a refreshing swim in the cool waters is a pleasant way of welcoming a new day.
After drying off in the morning sunlight, we head further upstream to a fascinating cave above the riverbed. Here the walls of the cave are decorated by ancient Bushmen shamans, their delicate rock art set on a canvas of natural rock illustrate scenes drawn from ancient ritual and trance dances from many years ago.
Leaving the Bushman cave, we finally break out of the ravine, up onto the open mountainside where we follow the trail into the open mountain grassland mixed with Fynbos where, dotted over the landscape, we find two species of pre-historic Cycads; the Eastern Cape Blue Cycad (Encephalartos Horridus) and the Zuurberg Cycad (Encephalartos Longifolius). These plants are the early ancestor of the Conifer trees we know so well today.
We break for a well-deserved picnic lunch out on the slopes of the Mountains before returning and descending back down along the River to our camp.
Back at camp we prepare the camp fire for the evening Braai and enjoy the evening meal under the canopy of gnarled trees and the African starlit sky amongst the sounds of Africa.
After a good workout, a memorable nature experience and a wholesome meal with good fireside company we say goodnight and make our way to bed in this peaceful environment.

Day 3
Wilderness camp to Port Elizabeth
We wake to a refreshing cup of coffee, a slow breakfast and prepare to leave our camp, pack up our luggage, we porter it to the nearby tour vehicle before returning to the Addo Elephant national park for some more exciting game viewing, a light lunch and our return in the afternoon to your place of residence in Port elizabeth and the end of the tour.
